The Magician

AS A YOUNG BOY, I NEVER DREAMT OF BECOMING A MAGICIAN. I ONLY EVER HAD ONE AMBITION: TO BECOME A FIREMAN AND DRIVE A BRIGHT RED FIRE ENGINE WITH FLASHING LIGHTS THROUGH THE STREETS OF LONDON. I CAN REMEMBER READING MAGIC BOOKS AND LIKING CARD TRICKS AS A CHILD, BUT NEVER THOUGHT MY LIFE WOULD TAKE SUCH A DRAMATIC TURN.

Destiny or fate – who knows? But my dreams came true and I eventually joined the London Fire Brigade.

The magic bug must have been planted in me somewhere though. I can remember, on my opening day at training school, being asked what my interests were. My response: magic and card tricks.

As my passion for magical knowledge and skills grew, I would practise my new-found miracles on my colleagues. This hardened audience were never short of offering their criticism or advice, and were even known to throw my playing cards from the fire station window!

Gradually, over 15 years magic took over my life. I would study and practise for over four hours a day or until my hands could take no more.

I eventually had enough skill and opportunity and I turned professional – the rest is history. My career has been a truly magical adventure. I have met so many wonderful people and made some life-long friends along the way.

I have performed both close-up and performance magic worldwide, and have been lucky enough to entertain Royalty many times. On more than one occasion, stars – including Michael Jackson and Sting – have chosen me to privately perform for them. I have also made many TV appearances, including several magical performances on live TV shows.

I am proud to say I have formed a close association with my favourite charity, The Variety Club, helping disadvantaged children, as well as many others.

I am proud to know I have brought some happiness to my audiences and thank all of them for making me the performer I am today.

True magic does not exist without people who possess passion, warmth and humour – that is real magic, and I look forward to entertaining many more people in the future. Here’s to the future!
